John Barton

John Barton serves as President of the Northwood Office platform. With 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, John leads efforts to enhance Northwood’s office leasing, operations, and redevelopment to integrate more mixed uses into Ballantyne, and expand the company’s management platform in other markets.

Prior to Northwood, he served as Managing Director and co-head of HFF’s Office Investment Advisory Group in Atlanta, where he handled sales of office buildings in the Southeast. Before HFF, John served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Parkway Properties, where he was responsible for the company’s Atlanta and Philadelphia markets; in addition to many other Sunbelt and Mid-Atlantic markets during his 16-year tenure. He has served on several boards of directors for various private and public organizations focused on economic and community development throughout the Southeast.

John graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Southern Methodist University and earned a Juris Doctor from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
